The Projects
Cambodia
SAM – Enhancing the live of people with disabilities
This program ensures people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Cambodia can access the help they need to overcome barriers, participate actively in their community and, ultimately, live a full life. Our project partner KBO provides services both in Community Based Rehabilitation Centres and through Home-Based Care.
Timor-Leste
Food Security Program
The main objective of the project is to support and empower community members to lead the implementation of projects aimed at improving agricultural development and food security. Focus areas of the project include capacity building through training and information sessions on agriculture and nutrition, and exchange programs with other communities; Reforestation through tree planting; Strengthening of existing school gardening programs; and identifying and protecting water sources located within the communities.
Myanmar
Education Program
Through the education program, Jesuit Mission is working with Myanmar Jesuit Region (MJR) to transform Myanmar society by promoting educational initiatives to the young men and women there, especially among communities on the margins. These educational initiatives include Myanmar Leadership Institute, St Aloysius Gonzaga Institute, Campion Institute and Community Colleges.
Thailand
Sustaining Education for Burmese refugees in Mae Hong Son
Education is vital in the Mae Hong Son camp settings. Many refugee children have experienced deep trauma, so the routine and structure of a school environment helps give them a sense of normality. Our local partner, Jesuit Refugee Service Asia Pacific (JRS AP), is running the Sustaining Education for Burmese Refugees project in Thailand. The focus is to provide access to quality education by enhancing the capacity of the Karenni Education Department (KnED) to run their schools and formal educational programs in the camps. KnED supports the practical needs of school operations – building teacher capacity through training and improving the curriculum.
