Born into a humble farming family in Cambodia, 24-year-old Longkut has overcome remarkable challenges to become a beacon of hope for his community. Despite being born without legs and with only two fingers on his right hand, Longkut’s determination and resilience have shaped a story of transformation through the power of education.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from the National Meanchey University, Longkut joined Fe y Alegría (FyA) Cambodia—a Jesuit educational movement dedicated to empowering the most marginalised through access to quality education. What began as a part-time role in 2022 grew into a full-time position in 2024, offering Longkut not only stable employment but also a profound sense of purpose.

“Others believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.”

At FyA, Longkut teaches computer literacy to students at the Community Learning Centre in Phnom Bak village and supports ten partner public schools. Through teacher training programs and community workshops, he promotes environmental awareness and leadership among youth. His passion for learning and service inspires others to pursue education as a path toward dignity and change.
Beyond his professional role, Longkut supports his family financially and shares lessons on sustainability, morality, and environmental care. His dream is to help bridge the digital divide by providing access to technology for students who currently lack computers both at home and school.
“Others believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself,” says Longkut. “Now I want every student—no matter their background or ability—to know that they can learn, grow and make a difference.”
Thanks to your generosity, for Longkut has found a community of faith, learning, and solidarity. His journey embodies FyA’s mission to nurture inclusion, strengthen education, and empower future generations.
