Pilgrims 100 Award night

The second Pilgrims 100 Awards Night will be held on Monday 14 February 2022 via Zoom, starting at 6.00pm Adelaide time. The Honourable Hiue Van Le and Mrs Lan Le will welcome us all to a fast-moving event where a Pilgrims member will advocate for each of the three shortlisted Jesuit Mission projects. Pilgrims 100 members will then vote for their most deserving project, and Helen Forde (CEO Jesuit Mission) will update us on last year's winning project - Railaco Timor-Leste.

Project Shortlist for 2021 members to vote for
Project 1: Myanmar – Covid-19 and Military Coup Relief Activities

Myanmar Jesuit Region (MJR) teams distribute food, medicines and relief items to undocumented people living in slums. As thousands flee violence in the border regions, the new needs are for food and shelter for the displaced as well as increased need of medical support to cope with COVID-19. Over 30,000 vulnerable people have benefited from the MJR outreach programs since the start of 2021.

Project 2: Cambodia – Battambang Education Project: Education and Accompaniment of Poor Students

The Battambang Education Project aims to provide opportunities for young women and men and youth from very poor families from nine provinces in the North-Western Cambodia to have a chance to study. The Battambang Education Project provides hostel accommodation in six areas, financial assistance to cover tuition fees, as well as accompaniment to help build the leadership, psycho-social and environmental formation of the students.

Project 3: Timor-Leste – Providing Clean and Safe Water Supplies for Rural Communities

Jesuit Social Service—Timor-Leste (JSS-TL) is engaging communities to deliver six water infrastructure projects in Ainaro, Ermera and Liquiça in 2022. The vision and mission of the JSS-TL water project is to provide access to clean water for each community. It is normally the job of children to fetch water from springs a long distance from their homes. With water availability closer to home, children can focus more on their education which benefits the family, community and the country.

Winning Project - 2020

Pilgrims 100 members voted for the Jesuit Mission project to be awarded the inaugural grant in November 2020.  The winning project was Project No. 1:  Providing food, healthcare and education in Timor-Leste.
